I am waxing philosophical and then falling silent

It's so easy for us to condemn ourselves for our shortcomings, rather than to try and change, and it's easier still for us to condemn others for their shortcomings; be these failing real or wholly imagined. It's even fairly easy for us to grow wise enough to accept ourselves for who we are and for those failings which we cannot, due to our flawed humanity, correct. We would call those who are able to accept themselves in all their glorious imperfection people with healthy egos (although I imagine some religions might call such individuals arrogant). We would say that they are capable of self-love (get your minds out of the gutters, people.). It is, however, quite rare that we find ourselves willing to use that same wisdom in our treatment of others.
Nobody on this Earth is perfect, nobody ever has been, and nobody ever will be. We are all, on some level, animals and even the best of us, from time to time, will fall short of what is needed and let slip that darkness which we normally hide so well. This, for better or for worse, is what it means to be human. Whether our monstrousness keeps life from becoming boring or not, I cannot say, but I do know that it's there and I do know that we are all powerless before it at times.
I think we all need to take a step back from time to time and realize this, not only in our judgment of our selves but in our judgments of others. I'm not suggesting the use of any "turn the other cheek" bullshit only that we exercise greater caution and wisdom in our judgments of ourselves and of others.
I don't think true love lies in finding people who are perfect for us because such people do not exist except in the realm of the imagination. I think true love is about learning to accept people for who they are and the imperfections they are unable to change.
We are all monsters, and I think in order to embrace our humanity and feel love for anyone we must first learn to accept our inhumanity.
-Kodos out, for good.
ADDENDUM: For those of you who cared about my endeavors here and actually took some interest in my creative writing (all 2 of you) I figure I'll just let you know that while this DA is dead and whatnot, my ambitions remain unchanged and I am still endeavoring to get something done. If you happened to want to contact me for anything, feel free to. I'm an approachable recluse. Tyrant343 is the aim name, in case you're lazy.
-Kodos out, [insert witty thing here
Addendum: A bit of wisdom for you all. Something I'd come to realise on my own, for sure, but also something I found was best articulated by the writer of the webcomic sexy losers.
People never change*. We get worse in our perversions and quirks or we mellow and/or become apathetic, but people never change.
*One in a million, maybe, may change, but most of us never do.
Just something related for you to ponder.
Addendum PS: I don't think I ever mentioned this in the past, but for what it's worth I did try re-activating my gallery for you all but that was after the latest DA update rounds and shit and for whatever reason when I tried to reactivate my gallery it told me I had nothing there to reactivate. If anyone cares enough and knows how I can rectify this without going through the trouble of re-uploading everything (something I won't do unless I felt I would have new art coming in. I'm only willing to waste so much effort on what is essentially a mausoleum). If anyone has advice, feel free to contact me by AIM, email, PM, carrier pigeon, or whatever means of communication gets your rocks off. If you want to just vomit words at me feel free to do that too.
-Kodos out [Evidently I cannot quit you, DA.]

I too suffered from a paucity of pageviews, so I decided to hold a contest. I sent notes to all my friends inviting them to enter, and ~Vegimal-Corner is one result.
Perhaps you could choose one or three of your characters, and hold a contest for the best set of outfits.
